Current Projects
Wellbeing Education for Adults
Our next project is in the area of health and wellbeing. There is a lot of focus on doctors, medicine and treatments after people become sick. However, there is not enough attention on food habits and other means to prevent diseases, eliminate sickness or maintain health.
Knowledge of healthy lifestyle needs to be taught to the people of rural communities. There is an epidemic of diabetes, kidney issues, heart issues, skin problems, and so on. These diseases can be prevented or maintained without complication with some basic knowledge of health, right from young age.
Housing for Students
Now that we have supplied a school system to the students. We would like to build a housing accommodation for the out of village students so they do not have to cross long distances to commute and can focus on their studies and education.
Scientific Farming
In the rural communities, the farmers have experimented with farming to make the best, by working in a trial and error mode which becomes expensive if not approached with definite knowledge. This knowledge exists with the university professors. We would like to provide the bridge to bring the knowledge to the farmers where and when they need it, by seminars or short courses in scientific farming. It will also generate knowledge of a variety of crops that farmers may not be aware of that could be suitable for their land and environment.
This can also lead to farming crops that are more helpful for healthy living for the local people. There are a lot of herbal products that are marketed on world markets. There are also more health generating fruits, vegetables and grains that can better serve their health needs. Our rural people are mostly vegetarians. Farm products can help them for good health. Our farmers can help the world market with the
knowledge they can obtain from the expert professors.
Leadership Training
We would like to educate the local people in how they can organize teams and conduct public tasks with proper management structures that include brain storming, prioritizing, planning, financing, checks and balances and supervising. All villages in our rural area have need for public works, and they are unable to without direction or planning.
Once introduced to well organized management of village business, they can be much more productive. This can improve the lives in village communities. Such education could also lead to leadership development. Well-organized structure could promote development of group leadership for villages.
